Set in 1910s England, the Banks children are looking for a new nanny after their beloved Katie Nanna couldn't take their shenanigans anymore. Following a strong gust of wind, the magical Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep and changes the Banks life forever. Jane and Michael learn valuable lessons about responsibility and love through walks in the park, visits to the bank, dance breaks on a chimney, and finally flying the perfect kite. Featuring popular songs from the classic Disney movie like "Spoonful of Sugar" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" as well as hits from the Broadway musical like "Practically Perfect" this show is an amazing experience for children of all ages.

Cast members come from all over Western North Carolina and range from PreK all the way through 12th grade. The spring musical at the Asheville Performing Arts Academy is chance for all of the school's different programs to come together for one spectacular show. Cast members participate in the APAA through three different programs: Youth Community Theatre, The Prep Academy, and The Academy. The cast is being led by Academy members Annabel Pulman as Mary Poppins and Hogan McLamb as Bert. Jane played by Caroline Roth from the Prep Academy is joined by Community Member Ian Adkins in the role of Michael. Even with a large cast, each student has a chance to shine on stage through special moments such as small lines or being featured in a larger group number. Combining all three programs, students are able to learn from those with different theatrical backgrounds while all bringing their unique perspective to the stage.

Disney and Cameron MacIntosh's MARY POPPINS JR is directed by Heather Gallagher. She is joined on the production team by Mary Katherine O'Donnell as the Assistant Director/Stage Manager, Kurt Campbell as the Music Director, Cord Scott as the Choreographer, and Kylee Frye as the Younger Children Director.
